Cowin E7 wireless headphone Review

Through the research that we conducted on the top electronics making waves in the market at the moment, a few headphones popped up – including the Cowin E-7. Now, the headphones are largely known for their suitability for gaming, but it really goes deeper than that. During the course of our review, we decided that the Cowin E-7 is equally suitable for watching movies, for music and other more “serious” tasks. In fact, one of its major strengths lies in its versatility.

However, this review is not an attempt to coat the product with glitter or overrate its performance. This is an honest review of what we believe is a genuinely good product, so if that is what you’re looking for, read on.

Pricing

The Cowin E-7 is on sale for a reasonable price of $69.99. Competitive pricing, we believe, for its market.

Key Features

  • NFC
  • Noise cancelling tech
  • Over the ear wireless headphones
  • Fast Fuel feature
  • 40mm ear-cup aperture drivers

Overview

Out of the box, the E-7 headphones last for about 30 hours of wireless playtime before you have to recharge the battery. Alternatively, you could use an audio cable with the device if you are not willing to recharge immediately.

The noise cancelling feature is a great addition too. If you’re trying to listen to your audio with zero disturbance from your environment, this option will basically make it feel as though you’re in a world of your own – you won’t hear a thing. It goes both ways because the outside world won’t be able to hear what you’re listening to either. For example, in a situation where you decide to play a game or listen to loud music in the middle of the night, the headphones will ensure that you do not disturb the people living with you or around you. You can turn the feature on or off as you please.

Design

The sleek design and chrome accents of the Cowin E-7 forms a major attraction for us, and it is sure to capture your attention too. The headphones have a sort of futuristic design, especially with some fancy features added in this area.

The product ships with a travel bag that you can stow the headphones in while they are not in use. Controls are placed on both earcups – the volume button, NFC button, the audio jack (suitable for a 3.5mm cable only), the Bluetooth toggle and the charge indicator light. The indicator light blinks when the Cowin is charging.

What makes all this even more impressive is the fact that the headphones are quite light. You could have them hung around your neck through the whole day and not feel worn out by them.

Connectivity and Power

The Bluetooth feature is undoubtedly one of the product’s main selling points. Headphones are evolving and manufacturers are constantly improving their products and looking for the next big innovation. Users are tired of the hassle involved with using cables all the time, so the Bluetooth here is a very welcome addition for convenience.

As stated earlier, on a full charge, the headphones will get you about 30 hours of playtime before you have to charge them. Now, while we have made it clear that the wireless play is a major advantage, it could really also be a con depending on the preferences of the user. For some, the constant battery charging can prove to be too much of a hassle and Cowin seem to recognize this issue.

Their response to it is the addition of the “Fast Fuel” feature. It functions similarly to the way the recently introduced “Quick Charge” does with some smartphone. Here, with the Fast Fuel option enabled, a simple ten-minute charge will give you enough juice on the headphones to last you for about an hour. If you need to give the device a full charge, you would have to charge it for about five hours. Of course, a simple quick alternative to all these is connecting a 3.5mm audio cable to the jack and using your headphones that way.

Sound Quality

If you’re a tech freak or an “audiophile” as some people would call sound experts, then the Cowin E-7 may not exactly blow you away with performance in this regard. However, for the average user, the sound quality is pretty good especially when you consider the price of the headphones and weight it with the competition.

These headphones will provide sharp, clear sound with a great bass and a generally solid audio output.

Microphone

The E-7 has a built-in mic, great for users that stream content on platforms such as YouTube or for Skype conversations. Now, to be honest, it does really well for Skype conversations but if you’re going for a completely surreal audio experience with your YouTube stream, you probably won’t be blown away. Sure, it handles it well enough, but not extraordinarily.

Pros and Cons

Putting all the aforementioned information into consideration, here are the pros and cons of the Cowin E-7

Pros

  • Sleek, futuristic design
  • Versatility
  • Great audio quality
  • Noise cancellation
  • Long-lasting battery with Fast Fuel option

Cons

  • The earcups do swivel, but the headphones itself is not foldable
  • The sound quality of the mic could be better generally
Conclusion

The Cowin E-7 cannot exactly be classified into the category of gaming headphones, neither does it fit directly into the category of music headphones. It merges a little bit of everything, and this versatility is an advantage that we have stressed well enough. It means that these headphones are suitable for any purpose or use that a user wishes to apply them to, and it comes in at a reasonable price too.

We believe that the Cowin is a well-built product (credit to the manufacturer) and you are unlikely to be disappointed if you do decide to make a purchase. Strongly recommended for users looking for something within its price range – you’re unlikely to find a lot of better options. Also you can choose her more budget Friendly Best wireless bluetooth headphone.
